The Nintendo Entertainment System is an 8-bit video game console released by Nintendo. It was first released in Japan on July 15, 1983 as the Family Computer and is Nintendo's second home video game console. Aside from Qix games, the NES was home to the debut of popular franchises including The Legend of Zelda and Metroid. A port of Qix was released for this console, developed by Novotrade; Nintendo themselves would later develop their own version of Qix for the Game Boy with Threshold Research.
